8 Things You Forgot To be Grateful For As The Year Ends Today

http://www.thechatterboxx.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/gratitudepic.jpeg
“Do not spoil what you have by desiring what you have not; remember that what you now have was once among the things you only hoped for.”
―Epicurus

Sometimes Angel and I get so caught up pursuing the next big thing, that we forget to pause and appreciate the things we have, and the things we’ve experienced, learned and achieved along the way.
In other words, we forget to give thanks continuously, for all things.  Since every step we have taken has led us right to where we are, and all things have contributed to our development, when we finally do pause to give thanks, we try to include ALL things in our gratitude.
So that’s what I want to reflect on today – a few quick reminders about some things you, too, likely forget to be grateful for…(more after the cut)

A Husband And Wife Go To Counseling After 30 Years Of Marriage

After 30 years of marriage, a husband and wife came for counseling.
When asked what the problem was, the wife went into a tirade listing every problem they had ever had in the years they had been married. On and on and on: neglect, lack of intimacy, emptiness, loneliness, feeling unloved and unlovable – an entire laundry list of unmet needs she had endured.
Finally, after allowing this for a sufficient length of time, the therapist got up, walked around the desk and after asking the wife to stand, he embraced and kissed her long and passionately as her husband watched – with a raised eyebrow.
The woman shut up and quietly sat down in a daze. The therapist turned to the husband and said, "This is what your wife needs at least 3 times a week. Can you do this?"
"Well, I can drop her off here on Mondays and Wednesdays, but on Fridays I fish."

Dear Nigerians: "How are you" A Sign of Disrespect to the Elderly Nigerian

I'm proudly Nigerian any day anytime and as much as we are generally funny and ridiculous sometimes shame go wan kill person when you see how backward and ignorant some Nigerians have been and still are, like the world is changing why tf have you chosen not to change with it? Why tf are you still backward and ancient?
Dear Nigerians why is it that in Naij when you greet someone who is older than you like aunties, uncles or even parents and ask them "how are you" to them it is considered an insult kinda like a taboo, and when they’re gisting someone about what happened they be like "imagine that small girl of yesterday was asking me "how are you" can you imagine children of nowadays what rubbish". Like are these people kidding me? Since when did “how are you” become an insult? They’ll say it’s a sign of disrespect and that it’s only an elder that’s supposed to ask the young person and not the other way around. I feel its plain ignorant and hilariously stupid. What do you guys think biko?

#TBT Abuja Post: Bros where you dey stay?

Like some say money is not for everyone, because with money comes responsibilities and to handle it you need to have sense and some lack this sense.
In Abuja lots of people have money but not all have sense and so the senseless ones are the ones I'll call Ode.
These ode niggas are the ones that drive the latest cars but dem no get house. As dumb as this sounds, my dear it’s legit and it’s happening. You see a young man with Ranger Rover and confam BMW but they no get house. They practically live in their cars and occasionally look for where to perch like fly.(more after the cut)

Respect

http://www.youth.ps/images/guides/graphics/what-7-4.png
We want everybody to respect us, do we respect everyone around us??? Answer is a big NO! We don't respect whom we think better than us, we don't respect poor and old people, we don't respect whom we feel less better than us. So how can we earn respect? The easiest way to earn respect is by giving respect.
Earning respect might be difficult but not impossible. Don't use bad language, love unconditionally, be helpful, listening to someone is also a sign of giving respect and earning respect as well. Patience and practice can bring out the virtue in you..(more after the cut)

I’m learning to love the flaws
I see staring back at me in the mirror…
They keep me humble.
Each time I stumble humility grows
And flows through my eyes. allowing me to accept others’ shortcomings.(more after the cut)

There's no reason we could let ourselves unworthy. God's always watching how we generate little blessings to the best and proper ways.
There once a story of my life. I'm such a person born with a negative mind. How I wish I could live same with others happy lifestyle. When I was a little I'd never felt the true happiness of life. I don't even know how to value myself. I'd always mind the feelings of others even in exchange of my own free will. Definitely, I grew up having feelings of being lonely, shameful, sensitive and unsociable. I always put down myself on behalf of a group mistakes. I keep on regretting for my worthless behavior but how can I overcome since this was my true personality? I don't have confidence at all. I have a dream but I think I'm not worthy enough to achieve it.(more after the cut)

The Deaf Wife Problem

Fred feared his wife Rhonda wasn't hearing as well as she used to and he thought she might need a hearing aid. Not quite sure how to approach her, he called the family Doctor to discuss the problem.
The Doctor told him there is a simple informal test the husband could perform to give the Doctor a better idea about her hearing loss.
"Here's what you do," said the Doctor. "Stand about 40 feet away from her, and in a normal conversational speaking tone see if she hears you. If not, go to 30 feet, then 20 feet, and so on until you get a response." (more after the cut)

7 Practical Strategies to Overcome Emotional Pain

                                http://sherievenner.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/03/overcome-emotional-pain.jpg
Life is filled with emotional bumps, bruises, illnesses, and strains. In Psychology Today blogger Guy Winch’s new book, you can gain insight into why such experiences as rejection, loss, and failure hurt so much and how you can overcome the psychological injuries these can create.
We can all benefit from self-help books with a solid empirical basis that translate technical jargon into practical advice, and Winch’s book definitely falls in that category. He analyzes the 7 most difficult situations we face in our lives and provides remedies for each. Carrying the injury and illness metaphor throughout, he shows how we can repair our emotionally broken bones to recover from the poison of guilt, and overcome other common deficiencies of our emotion repair system.
Let’s take a look at these 7 sources of emotional injury and briefly examine their cures or antidotes: (more after the cut)

           inspirational stories
My friend's mom has eaten healthy all her life. Never ever consumed alcohol or any "bad" food, exercised every day, very limber, very active, took all supplements suggested by her doctor, never went in the sun without sunscreen and when she did it was for as short a period as possible- so pretty much she protected her health with the utmost that anyone could. She is now 76 and has skin cancer, bone marrow cancer and extreme osteoporosis.
My friend's father eats bacon on top of bacon, butter on top of butter, fat on top of fat, never and I mean never exercised, was out in the sun burnt to a crisp every summer, he basically took the approach to live life to his fullest and not as others suggest. He is 81 and the doctors says his health is that of a young person.(more after the cut)

12 Reasons "Good Men" are Still Single (Part 2 of 2)

7. He is Gay
Now let me clear something up. In no way do I want you to jump to the conclusion that anytime you see a single “good man” that means he is gay. This is not at all the case, but that does not mean this isn’t one of the reasons a lot of “good men” are not available for women. I want to give honest reasons, but please don’t go around to every single “good man” saying, “oh, so you must be gay” lol that’s not cool ladies.
8. He is not secure financially
Despite what kind of financial status he may portray, a “good man” may not always be as financially set as he would like. A real man who loves his woman wants to be able to provide for her. It does not mean he has to be able to shower her with gifts but he wants to be able to take care of the essentials and a little more. So, if he isn’t comfortable with his finances, he may hold back on entering a relationship. We can discuss whether he should or shouldn’t think this way, but the fact remains it does happen a lot. The IRS Audits A Gambling Grandpa

The IRS decides to audit Grandpa, and summons him to the IRS office. The auditor was not surprised when Grandpa showed up with his attorney.
The auditor said, "Well, sir, you have an extravagant lifestyle and no full-time employment, Which you explain by saying that you win money gambling. I'm not sure the IRS finds that believable."
"I'm a great gambler, and I can prove it," says Grandpa. "How about a demonstration?"
The auditor thinks for a moment and said, "Okay. Go ahead." (more after the cut)

Abuja Connection Seekers, Puppets of the Rich

In Abuja it is very easy to get distracted by "connection seeking" and lose yourself in the process by living above your means just to be able to go to the "big" places to attract "rich" people and people with connections. These people who have the so called connections,  can easily spot the "connection seekers" (CS) like a red stain on  white agbada, so they always have the upper hand and will take control over the situation as they please. Half the time these CS people only end up being used in so many different ways without even being close to getting what they want. (more after the cut)

Bitter And Sweet

Four days back there was an interesting incident occurred to remind me the fundamental truth about the human life in the airport. I was on fasting since it was Monday without having to eat anything & not to drink even a drop of water till the evening. I have gone to temple in the morning & had bananas from priest that were offered to God. I kept carefully those two bananas wrapped up in a paper at a corner of my baggage to have them in the evening at the end of my fasting. It was a tedious journey to reach the airport in time, the moment I reached at 8pm I hastily pulled out and unwrapped the bananas to eat. But here was an unusual habit of mine made the surrounding people to look at me as a ragged person. Since the age in my childhood that exactly I couldn't remember I used to eat banana like that, after peeling of a banana I would eat first white fiber on the peel by scratching with my lower teeth and then eat banana flesh without knowing the niceties. Monday Inspiration: Quit complaining, Do something and be Happier (10 ways)

                                       http://quotespictures.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/01/stop-complaining-do-something.gif
“Instead of complaining that the rose bush is full of thorns, be happy the thorn bush has roses.” ~Proverb
We all complain. Even if you argue that you are the happiest person in the world, you still complain sometimes.
Sometimes we complain without even realizing it, but rarely is it ever helpful. Sure, a common complaint can bond two people who may have nothing in common, but too much complaining would just break down the relationship.
For example, I once had a friend who constantly griped about her health, her family, her relationships, school, and the list goes on. Every time I hung out with her I felt drained afterward. (more after the cut)

Netflix and Chill, Don't Fall for it!!!

                               https://tribcw33.files.wordpress.com/2015/09/netflix-and-chill.jpg
Guys these days will do anything for an easy shag, there are so many tactics these days we've lost count. One time, this one guy asked me "babe I want to take you out, pick a place" as per novice then I sharply picked some nice ass spot in Wuse II, then he was like he doesn't know there that I should take a cab to his house then he’ll drive and I’ll direct him there, if I hear say we comot him house (not saying I shagged him o). Basically most guys just want to bang and one of the major red flags to know a guy is not going to take you as a lady serious is if he invites you to his house on the first date, it just means you aint worth the hassle in looking for a nice ass place for a first date. Well the new trend now is Netflix and Chill and as Netflix aint valid in naij yet here it’s "come let’s see a movie and chill na" and for those who don't know what it means let me break it down so you won’t be a victim of ignorance lol. Trippy Friday: Two Days of LSD Psychosis

My LSD experience was the craziest time of my life. Literally.

Prior to my first and only LSD experience I had been using marijuana for less than a year and I had tried coke twice, nothing else. I didn't even drink much before this year, I don't even like using pain killers and I don't take any prescription drugs.

I probably started doing drugs because I lost interest in following the rules, the established order, that had gotten me nowhere. After college I had no where to go. I was the perfect child and student, nothing exceptional, but nothing bad either.
After college I applied for the CIA (this becomes important). After being rejected I decided illegal substance use wasn't a big deal anymore.
I then got a job teaching English abroad where I met a lot of other English teachers, people who thought like me, people who were the most interesting, intelligent, amazing people I had ever met. And they were all drug users. It was because of them, and their stories, and their accomplishments, that I decided taking drugs would not screw up my life.
