The world today is full of compromise and so a lot of people know what's right but still choose to bend the truth or be selective about it , they choose to follow the crowd mainly to be accepted by society. Sex, particularly premarital sex is a sensitive matter and because everyone's doing it doesn't make it right, that every young man in Naij is involved in internet scam (yahoo or G or yahoo plus plus) doesn't make it right or doesn't change the fact that its stealing and is fraudulent and even though they sometimes use the money gotten from it to take care of their suffering families, making life better and more bearable for them, still doesn't make it right. But in our world today, premarital sex is the new normal in fact some people don't see how one can be in a relationship without sex at all, it's totally bizarre and out of this world to them but what does the bible have to say in this matter? Like I said last week, the information/knowledge we get from the Bible can be trusted because it is truth, life and stands the test of time, its always in play. And so what does the Bible have to say about premarital sex? (More after the cut)
The Bible says in 1 Corinthians 5:9-11;
"5:9 When I wrote to you before, I told you not to associate with people who indulge in sexual sin.5:10 But I wasn't talking about unbelievers who indulge in sexual sin, or who are greedy or are swindlers or idol worshipers. You would have to leave this world to avoid people like that.5:11 What I meant was that you are not to associate with anyone who claims to be a Christian yet indulges in sexual sin, or is greedy, or worships idols, or is abusive, or a drunkard, or a swindler. Don't even eat with such people."
Also the Bible says in 1 Corinthians 6:18
"Run away from sexual sin! No other sin so clearly affects the body as this one does. For sexual immorality is a sin against your own body."
The book of Proverbs 5:16 says "Why spill the water of your springs in public, having sex with just anyone?"
So this means that if the sex is outside of marriage it's sexual sin, no sugar coating, no denial just the plain truth that's bitter than bitter leaf and if we really want to be honest with ourselves half the problems we encounter as single people have their solid root in sex, for example, unwanted pregnancies, baby mama/baby daddy palava, STDs, HIV, abortion, rape, unnecessary emotional attachment to a person in a toxic, mentally and physically abusive relationship because of sex, making you not to see a way of letting him go because sex turns on the love button in women, strange sexual perversions and addictions, trust issues, the list goes on and on and on and even worse a total disconnect from God. Weighing the pros and con's, it's pretty obvious the con's of premarital sex far outweigh the pro's, being celibate is tough and requires self discipline but you either suffer the pain of discipline today and enjoy your tomorrow or enjoy fleeting pleasures now and suffer the pain of regret tomorrow, your choice to make. You probably hate me a little for this post but the truth always wins in the end, I hope this post can save someone from regrets later in life and give you insights on what the bible has to say. It's never to late to do the right thing. Be safe guys.
