In Abuja, To get Job cost

The worse thing that could ever happen to anyone is to be jobless, being jobless kills your vibe, it makes you feel like less of a person because there's nothing for you to do and you have to eat, also bills have to get paid. We all dread it, that’s why you see some people doing some jobs with ridiculously low pay as long as they aint idle, they don't mind. Nigeria is not like foreign countries where odd jobs are not looked down on and you can afford to work 3 or more jobs to make ends meet, here if you see 1, thank God and that 1 job will take all your time, even social life you can't have. In Abuja it’s all about connection. If you're jobless and you go around dropping CVs here and there, no matter how qualified you are if you don't have connection, omashè o because na long thing, might as well go to your pastor for prayers because its only God that can help you get the job. (more after the cut)

The system is so bad that you have to know somebody who knows somebody who is willing to help you, infact government jobs have price depending on the ministry or office. Some people pay as much as 250k to get a government job that may end up paying 50k salary just so they don’t end up jobless and for job security. Imagine someone with no job where will they get the 250k to pay from? You can't just graduate with good grades and have jobs waiting for you.

The worse kind of job to have in Abuja is Private jobs because they can lay you off anytime  for any reason(no  job security), some the pay is just there compared to what the company is capable of, they own your time, your entire life revolves around the private work, to get the job sef you may have to sleep with the boss or beg someone who is already sleeping with the boss to help you, Then some of the bosses will owe you salary for months and still expect you to be coming every day. Beht how? The reason why some owe is just disgusting and inhumane to me, they will owe you because they are busy using the money they are supposed to use to pay salaries to send their girlfriends to Dubai, buy her car, pay her rent etc and everyone in the office knows because it’s no secret, and they are married men o. Asin how wicked can you be to not pay your staff for months, how will they survive? Especially the men, at least the women can have sugar daddy’s or friends that help them out sometimes but still it’s really not fair. Adding salt to injury if you don't show up to work early they can cut your salary, imagine, the salary that they are not even seeing, you still want to cut it? I guess this is why a good number of Abuja people would rather do some crazy lowkey jobs like pimping, yahoo or prostitution than have to work for somebody or even worse, be jobless.

I sincerely pray Nigeria becomes a country where you won't need connections to have the job you deserve. Say Amen.
